長い眠りから覚めたＩＣＱ…
ＩＣＱというインスタントメッセンジャを知っていますか？
ＡＯＬメッセンジャのオリジナル版で、ＭＳＮやＹａｈｏｏも類似のサービスをしている。
昨日、古い手帳を整理していたら、昔使っていたインターネットの各種サービスのＩＤメモがあった。そこにＩＣＱの会員番号を見つけた。たしか７年前に加入し、世界の人々と話し情報交換をした記憶がよみがえってきた。その後身辺があわただしくなり、５年ほど前にいつとはなく止めた。懐かしくなって、いまどうなっているかを調べたらそのサービスは健在であった。ソフトをダウンロードして早速かつての会員番号でログインしてみた。ログインできました！！！５年間の眠りから復活したのはちょっとした感動でした。ＩＣＱサーバーに私の会員情報が眠っていたのです。
このＩＣＱはこんにちのＰ２Ｐの原型でもあり、驚異的なスピードで増殖したのを記憶している。ＩＣＱのサイトを調べて記憶をたどると、たとえば当時急成長していたＡＯＬではその会員数が１００万人に達するのに３年かかっているのに対して、ＩＣＱではわずか半年で１００万人の会員数に達している。

ＩＣＱのダウンロード数は、２０００年６月時点で１億件（CNET)に達し、２年後の２００２年５月には２億件を記録している。一日に８００万人がログインしており、同時オンラインユーザ数は世界２４３カ国、２００万人であるという。またわたしの好奇心がうずき、ＩＣＱの世界に引きずり込まれる予感がする。
なお、昨日のブログは、このＩＣＱ会員情報の中にあったworldsaway.comの現在を知りたくてクリックしたら例のfor saleを発見したというわけである。
